Faster Calculations

In Mathematics, we have alot of ways for easier calculations. Someof them are:

Multiplying with 11
Let the number to be multiplied is 2986.
So:
2986
x 11

2986
29860

---

32846

The easier one is:
Write the unitsplace as it is i.e. 6
Next add the tens and units place and write the number i.e. 14 [Carry 1 and write only 4] This becomes 46
Thirdly add hundreds and tens place i.e. 17 [add the carried digit i.e. 1 so it becomes 18] Write 8 and carry 1. So the result becomes 846

Continue in the same way till the end. You will get the answer 32846

Thereis another way to do so. The original no. was 2986. Multiply it with 10 and add the original no. to it. Thus, 29860+2986=32846

To multiply with 5 an easy way

Let's take a no. suppose 48. We have to calculate 48*5. We know that 48*5=240. The easier way is to half the given no. this results into 24. Now, add a zero to it which gives the answer 240.

If there is an odd number. let it be 121. so on division by 2 we get 61.5 Remove the decimal and the answer is 615.
